Many of us are constantly looking outside ourselves for that “thing.” What each of us will come to realize is that living an extraordinary life has nothing to do with things and have everything to do with being present and simply living and owning each experience as an opportunity to expand. Expansion is everything. Growth is optional. Choosing to expand opens one up to living the life we are “wanting” so desperately. What I know for sure is that my life transformed once I got out of my “victim state” and I am still learning when to turn the “I Am” on and go within for that perfect answer. And as an expression of love to the world, I have collected these experiences in an effort to restore the foundation for the beginning of the extraordinary life. Most of us have spent our entire lives blaming others for our problems. Blaming suggests that we’re not the problem and lets us off the hook for our contributions. Isn’t it so much easier for us to see how others are being in our lives? Once realized how the “blame language” shows up in our lives, we can choose to alter our thoughts and beliefs, and embrace the power of choice. We can spend tireless years blaming others, or we can allow ourselves to feel inadequate enough to get to the core of our story. These feelings, like any other emotion in our lives are always there to guide and lead us to that state of awakening to the truth that we are more than our physical beings. And when we dismiss this natural way of learning we cripple ourselves from ever reaching that state of acceptance. Recently, I was in a situation where “blame” showed up to teach me a powerful lesson. For the entire week, I committed to being in a state of awareness in all areas of my life. I was a devoted student willing to observe self and how I reacted to others. I set the intent to “do the opposite” in each experience before me. I chose to be in my highest potential in each moment. It was a selfish move—but it was necessary. In each interaction, I became aware of what was present and how I would have reacted to it. I channeled the courage to do something different. And I intentionally engaged in conversations that would leave me and others empowered. So, here I am in this situation at work where I have several people in my space who I now know are only there to teach and jolt me into my next state of being. I get that this is my platform for the next level. I noticed a woman who often experiences mood swings and has mastered attracting others to her drama, [more like a Broadway production]. As soon as she appeared, I shifted into the “I Am” mode listening to every word she spoke before me. Others watching would later reveal that I had a “blank” look on my face. I began thinking about how I reacted in the past and what outcomes were present in my life because of my reactions. I committed to living in the highest possibility right then and there, and I chose to leave her where she was—in the act of blaming another for whom she was being. I allowed her to continue to speak, and when I had enough of it, I moved consciously into acceptance. Selfishly I embraced what was needed in the conversation to move to a higher level. I said quietly, moving in a more comfortable position in the chair, “Kate, what is this really about?” I can remember clearly when she arrived at a place where her words had no meaning. Literally, she moved from one topic to another and could not answer the question. And eventually poof!—Little Miss Drama went away. I must admit—it felt damn good not to fall into the fox’s den, but to awaken to a higher self, another way of living. Now I ask, who do you think walked away with the prize? In the book, Living The I Am the author walks us through the journey of self mastery. Her "how to..." approach provides practical solutions for solving everyday problems. This book is humorous, spiritual, and powerfully written by an up and coming intuitive writer.
